Hey folks!
By now, you may be aware that ONE-SHOT didn’t reach its Kickstarter goal last week. It was a hard fought campaign, and thanks to 232 backers, we raised over 80% of our goal. It was a bittersweet moment, but we’re not giving up. I’ve spoken with the creative team, and we’re preparing to bring ONE-SHOT back to Kickstarter. Keep an eye out for an update. We’ll be launching early 2024.
In the meantime, I’ve got a couple of announcements! First, I’m tabling at my first convention this weekend!
Bedrock City is the first comic shop I ever visited. The year was 1999. The Ben Stiller-led action/comedy Mystery Men was flopping in theaters, but one eight-year-old boy was laughing hysterically and found new superheroes to admire.
They were ridiculous. And I NEEDED an action figure or ten. The only problem is that if you never watched Mystery Men, there are two things you should know. 1. It was just ahead of its time — fuck the haters who say it was bad. And 2. This wasn’t the type of film that had figures releasing at Toys R Us.
My mom did some research and found the nearest place that might have something. It was a comic shop called Bedrock City Comics. It was unlike anything I’d ever seen before. All manner of geekery was celebrated, and so many of the characters I loved were on display. Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, and now The Shoveler and Mr. Furious all side-by-side. It was as if I’d just imagined the coolest place I could think of into existence. It became my favorite store in a heartbeat.
Throughout my life, Bedrock City’s various locations around Houston have been a second home to me. It is a privilege to be a guest at their first comic con. If you’re heading out there, be sure to stop by Booth #112 and say hello!
Next up, our upcoming comic project has been announced! Hallowed North Rising is coming to Kickstarter later this month.
J. Schiek and I have wanted to do a "director's cut" of our comic for a while now, and with the upcoming launch of #3, we felt this was the perfect time to share more. Act 1 is now presented as a graphic novella, combining #1 & #2 along with new pages, side stories, and more. Please head to the prelaunch page and be sure to support us when we go live. At over 80 pages long, Hallowed North Rising stands as the perfect introduction to Hallowed North and its expanding universe.
Thanks everyone!

Congratulations on tabling at your first con!! That’s awesome! I’m already saving up for the ONE-SHOT relaunch so I’ll be better prepared. :) Also, Mystery Men is a cult classic for a reason. Lol
